WAKRO, 4 Sep: The Dao division of the Indian Army on Sunday organised a ‘visit programme’ to the Dinjan (Assam) military station for the students of Wakro (Lohit)-based Apna Vidya Bhavan and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, the Anu Shiksha Seva Trust (ASSET) informed in a release.
During the visit, which was aimed at providing an opportunity to the students to know the Indian Army, the students were taken to the division’s artillery brigade headquarters, where they viewed guns and other weapons on display. The officers and men of the brigade educated the students on small firearms, rifles, and other weapons. The students were also shown a howitzer gun, and were taken to the aviation base to get a close view of an advanced landing helicopter.
Former Chiharang ASM Sohan Krong, youth leader Baling Ngadong, and Manchal GPM Banan Tamblu called on Colonel Arun Shashi of the division, and expressed gratitude to the 181 Mountain Brigade for launching a bridge over Tha Nallah in the Chaglagam sector. The colonel said that “the Dao division and the Indian Army are always happy to reach out to communities through various welfare measures.”
The division’s family welfare organisation chairperson Nannu Bains interacted with the students, teachers and staffers of the school.
Dao Division GOC, Maj Gen Manpreet Singh Bains, also interacted with the visiting team.
Nannu Bains offered gifts to all the students and teachers, and a memento to the ASSET.
