NES’s 19th Annual Academic Excellence and Professional Achievement Awards

ITANAGAR, 24 Oct: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) felicitated members of the Nyishi community for their academic excellence and professional achievements during the 19th Annual Academic Excellence and Professional Achievement Awards-2023, held at the NES Research & Heritage Centre in Richi Jullang on 23 October.

Speaking on the occasion, NES president Prof Tana Showren expressed happiness over the academic

performance of the students, especially the girls, and advised them to maintain the same spirit to become torchbearers of the society. He also expressed hope that the professional awardees would exhibit the best work ethics and carry forward the dignity and reputation of the community in all walks of life.

He mentioned that “the motive behind the awards is to encourage and engage meaningfully with the members of society who have excelled in their chosen fields and have contributed to the society.”

Home Minister Bamang Felix, lauding the NES for recognising the members, also praised the excellent performance of the girls. He appealed to the members to “reflect on the performance of the boys.”

Eighteen meritorious students, 57 officers, and three distinguished professional achievers from the Nyishi community were felicitated on the occasion.

Education Secretary Pige Ligu was honoured on being inducted into the AGMUT cadre of the IAS. Retired IFS officer Tapu Gapak and banker Bengia Tabb were also recognised for their services.

In the ‘academic excellence’ category, a total of 18 students were awarded for being the top three in Class 10 and Class 12 (arts, science, and commerce) exams. Additionally, six students who cracked the prestigious Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) for admission into IIT courses, conducted by the IIT, and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission into MBBS courses, conducted by the National Testing Agency for the year 2019-2020, were also felicitated with certificates and scholarships.

The students honoured in the Class 10 category were Sania Blange (95.60%), Taring Yajer (95.20%), and Kipa Janma (94.80%).

In the Class 12 humanities stream, Tamchi Nyakum (92.80%), Nikam Loffa and Migom Kina (92.60%), and Bengia Yemin (91.80%) were felicitated as the first, second, and third topper, respectively.

In the commerce stream, Tadar Jeinam (95.80%), Zenith Natung (90%), and Yangfo Yakar (88%) were honoured as the first, second, and third topper, respectively, while the science stream saw Tam Sai (88.20%), Tarh Rinium (87.40%), and Nabam Ani (87%) being awarded scholarships.

Tarh Haniya, Neelam Doin, and Chukhu Nyia Loma in JEE (Advanced), and Tai Chumnya, Gichik Mumpa, and Langha Lawrence in NEET (Medical) were also felicitated.

NES general secretary Heri Maring, organising chairman Nabam Takar, and organising secretary of the event, Likha Teji, also spoke.
