Quality edn mantra for Ziro to become an edn’l hub: DC

ZIRO, 24 Oct: “Providing wholesome, quality education is the key to transform Ziro into an educational hub,” said Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Bamin Nime at the Hey Paka futsal ground here last Saturday.

After giving away the prizes for the events conducted as part of the second edition of the four-day Ziro Private Schools Festival, the DC urged the principals of the 26 private schools in the valley to “provide quality education in terms of both academic and moral education.”

“I am told that more than 7,000 students were enrolled in private schools in Ziro last year, and it is the duty of the schools to not disappoint the students and parents who have chosen Ziro to shape the careers of their children,” the DC said.

Cautioning against any sort of ragging or physical abuse in schools, the DC advised the students to “develop strong moral character by respecting your parents, teachers and elders,” and added that “schools are the pillars of a nation, and no nation can be strong without moral values and ethos in our students.”

Taru Abin, the president of the Ziro unit of the Arunachal Pradesh Private School & Children Welfare Association, said that the festival was “a platform for thousands of students studying in Ziro to showcase their latent talents.”

“Different students have different hidden talents in literary, sports, or culture. We tried to create a platform where there is healthy competition among the students of different schools, which not only motivates the competing students but also inspires the younger students to perform well in the coming years and bring laurels for themselves and the schools,” Abin explained.

The four-day festival featured intense sports, literary and cultural competitions among 2,500 students from 22 schools of the valley.

Likha Disum of Midland Education Centre was declared the ‘student of the year’, while Kids Quest School won the ‘school of the year’ award for the second consecutive year.

The closing ceremony was attended by, among others, 756 BRTF Colonel Archana Sood, Indira Gandhi Technical & Medical Science University vice chancellor Dr Sidharth Shukla, ITBP Commandant Shailendra Singh, DSP Ojing Lego, and former minister Padi Richo. (DIPRO)
