BANA, 20 Nov: Trainees from Singchung, Bhaluk-pong and Tippi participated in a two-day training programme on homestay, themed ‘Destination management through upskilling and responsible practices’, conducted here in East Kameng district by the tourism department recently.
The programme was aimed at promoting rural areas as tourist destinations and helping the villagers become self-sufficient by employing themselves in the tourism sector.
Resource persons from Itanagar-based State Food Craft Institute, along with homestay operators from Shergaon and Rupa (both in West Kameng), and the proprietor of Itanagar-based Yongam Tours & Travels trained the participants in tourism and homestay management, and apprised them of the “vast scope to uplift and broaden the mindsets of not just individuals but also of the communities as a whole.”
Certificates were later distributed to the participants in the presence of Tourism Deputy Director Bengia Manna Sonam, the Bana ZPM, the DTO, and other officials. (DIPRO)
