‘Social interaction-cum-socioeconomic’ prog

ITANAGAR, 13 Jan: Members of the Bamv Ao Welfare Society (BAWS), an organisation of the Galo tribe, consisting of four clans – Bam, Tao, Taju, and Ruti – conducted a three-day ‘Social interaction-cum-socioeconomic’ programme in the areas inhabited by the aforesaid clans from 10 to 12 January.

The tour covered four circles of Lower Siang and East Siang districts, beginning from Pompek village in Kangku circle of West Siang, and concluded in Pasighat in East Siang district.

“The aim and objective of the programme was to interact with our fellow brethrens and to strengthen the cordial relations among the descendents of Ato Bamv (Tamv),” the BAWS stated in a release.

“Another important objective of the tour was to spread awareness about economic sustainability and the government schemes to support the unemployed youths of the society,” it added.

During the programme, Dr Jumdak Bam, Jumnya Tao and Dr Tadam Ruti spoke on “various aspects of the economy and the role of financial power in playing vital role in the holistic development of an individual, a society and a nation as a whole,” it said, adding that BAWS president Bali Bam emphasised on the importance of education.
