ITANAGAR, 21 Feb: Nearly a hundred different bird species were recorded during the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) organized in Kamle and Lower Subansiri districts from 16 to 19 February.
The GBBC was organized in Boasimla and Rabe areas in Kamle and Hakhe Tari, Myolyang-Taderko, Khat Kodin and Joram areas in Lower Subansiri districts and a total of 97 different bird species were recorded, the organizers said.
Besides, the participants were also trained how to use the eBird application. The importance of protection and conservation of birds were also highlighted.
The GBBC in Kamle was organized with the support of the district tourism department, local people and members of the NgunuZiro.
In Lower Subansiri, a team of officials from BRTF, students from St. Claret College and various other schools participated in the programme.
The birding festival of India started at Hakhe Tari, popularly known as valley of flower on 16 February and concluded at St. Claret College campus on 19 February.
The four-day event was monitored by the members of Arunachal Pradesh Birding Club and Ziro Birding Club.
