RONO HILLS, 21 Feb: Liza Kamsa of Arunachal Pradesh, representing Yugi Vemana University, Andhra Pradesh won a silver medal in the ongoing 4th Khelo India University Games Weightlifting event at Rajiv Gandhi University here on Tuesday.
Kamsa won the medal in the women’s 59 kg category. She lifted 77 kgs in the snatch and 104 in the snatch for a total of 181 kgs.
She is currently undergoing training at the National Centre of Excellence, SAI, Itanagar. She had won a bronze medal at the Khelo India Youth Games in 2022.
Compatriot Balo Yalam also won a bronze medal in the same weight category.
Yalam, a product of Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, lifted a total of 179 kgs (snatch 79 kgs+ clean & jerk 100 kgs). She represented Guru Kashi University Punjab.
The gold medal in this category was won by Usha of CU with a total lift of 185 kgs (snatch 82 kgs + clean & jerk 103 kgs).
