Vote wisely for a better future

Editor,

Every day our life is filled with choices, be it in terms of wearing clothes, eating food, drinking etc. We go through extensive examination and survey prudently before buying clothes from shops or food from the market. W always tend to choose the best one. But when it comes to choose a leader, we never examine or study carefully that particular person; rather, we see only money, especially during the times of elections.

We usually distinguish leaders by their ability to offer us money, jobs, vehicles and other material gains in lieu of their potentiality to lead the state or the nation to a better position.

Taking cognisance of the coming state assembly election in Arunachal, let us remind ourselves that this is the right time to bring changes to our state. Choosing the right candidates is in our hands; we can be impactful voters if we choose responsibly. We should not blame the leaders for not bringing development or working for the betterment of the state; rather, we should blame ourselves for not electing the right candidate. Let us remind ourselves that when we vote, we vote not for a week or a month but for the tenure for five years, which is more than enough to bring destruction to the state and the nation, but the choice it in our hand. We can refrain from destruction by casting our votes for the genuine candidates.

These days almost all the villages and towns are filled with banners, posters and slogans which depict the credibility of the particular candidate. Almost every day we witness the resignation of leaders, joining of leaders or public to a new party, interaction programmes and many more, just to get attention from the public, and almost every person is filled with joy and happiness, especially during the election season (money festival).

In many parts of the state, people are becoming victims of the money culture, and many are lured with the power of money, jobs, materials, etc. People are being made blindfolded, so that they can see the true leaders, which is so heart-wrenching.

Dear fellow denizens of Arunachal Pradesh, let us come forward and cast our valuable votes in favour of the right persons who have the responsibility to take the state one more step towards a better Arunachal and work for the betterment of the societies; who have a vision for the better future for the youths; whose ideologies promote equality and justice. Let us cast our votes in favour of the candidates who promote the spirit of secularism and fraternity to maintain the unity and integrity of the state and the nation. Let us vote for the candidates who judge people not by caste, creed, religion, or sex but by the content of their character.

It is high time to examine our prospective candidates for the coming elections, and vote according to the size of their burden and responsibility they have for the people of Arunachal and India. Let us not just think for the comfort of the present and accept money; let us think about the future and reject the money offering. The future of the next generation lies in the hands of the present generation. It is the present voters who can make a better Arunachal or a worse Arunachal for the coming generation. Let’s not let our votes go in vain by electing wrong candidates, but rather make our votes count by electing the right candidates, because what we have now at present is the fruit of our choices we made in the past. Therefore, let’s examine deeply and vote wisely.

Let us identify and recognise the wolves in sheep clothing who manipulate the people by offering money, jobs and other materials, and refrain from such candidates.

Let’s not only wish and pray for good leaders, but let vote for good leaders in the coming elections and march together towards a better Arunachal.

One vote, one change, one step towards new Arunachal. Say no to money, and say yes to development. Let’s vote responsibly.
