ITANAGAR, 20 Jan: The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation’s (ESIC) Northeast regional office organised an awareness programme, along with a health check-up camp, to spread awareness about the ESI scheme and its benefits among insured persons, beneficiaries, and employers, here on Tuesday.
During the programme, participants were briefed on the SPREE-2025 scheme, which encourages voluntary registration under the ESI scheme, the ESIC Itanagar said in a release.
The interactive session also facilitated grievance redressal and collection of feedback to enhance service delivery in the state.
Northeast Zone Insurance Commissioner Pranay Sinha highlighted key initiatives of the ESIC, including the code on social security, which aims to extend social security coverage to unorganised, gig and platform workers, tea plantation workers, and those engaged in hazardous industries.
He also elaborated SPREE-2025, a one-time opportunity for unregistered employers and employees to enrol under the ESI scheme without inspection or penalty for past dues, and the Amnesty Scheme-2025, which facilitates resolution of long-pending disputes and reduces litigation burden on employers.
ESIC Northeast Regional Office Chief Medical Officer Dr Samed Ahmed stated that efforts are underway to empanel more hospitals in the state to strengthen healthcare services for ESI beneficiaries.
Further, issues of some employers were resolved on the spot.
ESIC Northeast Regional Office Deputy Director Ahtesham informed that the ESI scheme is currently operational in one district of Arunachal Pradesh, covering 2,210 insured persons and extending benefits to over 8,575 beneficiaries.
A large number of insured persons and beneficiaries participated in the programme and availed of services provided through the preventive health check-up camp.
