The issue of human-elephant conflict in Deomali subdivision of Tirap district was discussed in a meeting attended by the Regional Action Plan Committee for Mitigating Human-Elephant Conflict in the Northeast Region, the Arunachal Pradesh forest department, local communities, and other stakeholders.

The meeting is crucial as many lives have been lost in the area following attacks by elephants. The installation of solar fencing around agricultural lands and elephant corridors, solar streetlights in elephant-affected villages, and the establishment of an elephant protection force came up during the discussion, according to officials.

The authorities must look into these demands and put solutions in place, as there is an urgent need for effective preventive measures to put a stop to these attacks.
