NAMSAI, 3 Apr: The Namsai police, under the supervision of SP Sangey Thinley, busted two drug peddlers in separate incidents and seized a total of 57 grams of suspected heroin from their possession.
On 20 March, acting on credible information, a police team conducted a raid at an abandoned rented premises near a petroleum pump, about 1 km from 2nd Mile, Namsai. During the operation, one Sujita Kungkung was arrested. Upon search, one soap case containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 15 grams was recovered from her possession.
Subsequently, on 2 April, based on further intelligence, an operation was carried out along the Solungtoo highway. A vehicle was intercepted, leading to the arrest of Chow Pingta Choutang, identified as a key peddler in the area.
During the search of the vehicle, suspected heroin weighing approximately 41 grams, concealed in soap cases, was recovered from the centre console.
The operations were conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force led by DSP Kengo Dirchi, Inspector A Pandey, Lady Sub-inspector K Kimsing, SI R Kahik, and SB staff, with active support from local police personnel and independent witnesses.
Further investigation is underway to identify backward and forward linkages in the drug network, the police informed.
Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh Police have arrested two persons and seized heroin worth Rs 3.3 lakh from their possession in Nirjuli area, an officer said on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted a vehicle at the viaduct bridge in Dikrong and seized 31 vials of heroin weighing around 40 gm and arrested two persons, identified as Khyoda Tama (24) and Bamang Raju (29), on Thursday, he said.
A case has been registered under the NDPS Act and further investigation is underway, the officer added.(With PTI input)
