PASIGHAT, Sep 11: Monggu Banggo Football Club (MBFC) defeated Mebo Football Club by 4-1 on Saturday at Ngopok village to lift the 3rd Komlen Yirang Memorial Football Tournament 2017.
The first goal from MBFC came at the 20th minute of the match from Aki Yirang, but the score was equalized after MFC’s Miding Borang found the net in the 30th minute. However, MBFC’s Olik Tayeng netted the second goal at 38th minute and took the lead.
In the second half, Aki Yirang scored his second goal and took the score to 3-1. The fourth goal for MBFC came from Odum Gamno at the 72nd minute.
The winning team of MBFC took home the prize money of Rs 40, 000, while the runner-up team Mebo FC walked away with Rs 25, 000.
Tobang Lego of Mebo FC was awarded ‘Player of the Tournament’, while Dr Kanggong Yirang received the ‘Best Scorer’ award for netting a total of seven goals in the tournament. Siyang Yirang received ‘Best Goalkeeper’ award.
Seram FC was adjudged ‘Best Disciplined Team’ of the tournament.
Seram FC and Meboian Veteran FC were also awarded prize money of Rs 3,000 each for making it to the semi-finals.
BJP leaders, Olen Rome and Kanggong Borang gave away the prizes on the occasion.
