PALIN, Dec 18: The war of words between the Kra Daadi district unit of the BJP and the All Kra Daadi District Students’ Union continues with the BJP unit on Monday saying there is no valid reason to demand the chief minister’s resignation.
In a press release, the unit said that, based on a memorandum it submitted, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has already assured that he would make a ‘field visit’ to Tali with the MoS for Home. It said the CM wondered why Tali could not be connected to the rest of the state for a long time under the Congress-PPA rule.
‘He (the CM) is committed to developing Tali and Pipsorang, and a huge amount has been sanctioned under the SADA and the SIDF for Tali’s development,’ it said.
As to the infamous ‘dog’ remark, the unit said that the video clip of the incident – available on the social media – proved that the remark was not a personal one against Palin MLA Takam Pario, or against any community, but a comment on the PPA’s ‘deceitful act against the BJP.’
Saying the remark and the circumstances surrounding it were nothing but ‘political infighting’ between the BJP and the PPA, the unit urged the union to refrain from acting like ‘a political wing of the PPA/Congress.’
‘Being an apex student body of the district, the AKDDSU should think for the common people who are going to be badly affected by the bandh. It will also affect the daily wage workers, the business community, and banking transactions in the district,’ the unit said.
It appealed to the union again to call off its proposed bandh on 20 December ‘for the sake of the district’s people.’
