ITANAGAR, Jan 9: The Tourism department is conducting an awareness campaign about the importance of tourism at various schools of the state.
The department’s HRD wing, with support from the district tourism officers and the tourism information officers recently conducted awareness camps for students in Roing and Namsai. Local tour operators extended support as resource persons.
Topics like the importance of the tourism sector, preservation of culture and natural resources, need to maintain cleanliness, etc, were highlighted during the camps.
Information about career opportunities in the tourism sector and various courses in tourism and hospitality was provided to the students.
The students were also motivated to pursue entrepreneurship in the tourism sector to generate self-employment opportunities.
The events also featured quiz competitions on Arunachal Tourism. Videos related to Arunachal Tourism and ecotourism were also screened.
Meanwhile, coinciding with Si-Donyi festival, a tourism awareness programme was recently held at schools in Dumporijo and Daporijo by TIO Duyir Yedi Buni.
