ITANAGAR, 21 Apr: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on Taluk Rai, the Public Information Officer-cum-Executive Engineer (RWD), Daporijo Division, Upper Subansiri district for not complying with the provision of Right to Information Act, and deliberately delaying in furnishing of information.
The appellant of the case (Appeal Case no. APIC-159/2020) is Tanga Byaling, a former minister.
The PIO has been directed to deposit the amount in favour of the APIC Registrar within one week and has also been directed to appear before the Court of State Chief Information Commissioner Dr Joram Begi.
The Commission further directed that in case of his failure to comply with the order, the Commission shall also invoke section 20(2) of the Right to Information Act, 2005 and recommend disciplinary action to the state chief secretary.
