NAHARLAGUN, 21 Apr: A 14-year-old girl was rescued from the house of one Tana Tadap in Laptap village, Sagalee, Papum Pare district by the police in Sagalee recently.
On receiving information that the girl has been shifted to the Child Care Institute (CCI) of the Oju Welfare Society here, Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) Member Ngurang Achung met her for preliminary inquiry.
Following the inquiry, APSCPCR Chairperson Gumri Ringu has instructed the District Child Protection Unit of Papum Pare to immediately depute a counsellor to counsel the victim as “she shows signs of suicidal tendencies.”
She has also instructed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Papum Pare to visit the CCI to pursue the matter and submit a status report on the action taken immediately.
Ringu has also directed the CWC to produce Tana Tadap and the father of the victim to be present at the office of the APSCPCR for preliminary enquiry and necessary action. She has assured to look into the matter promptly and take necessary actions as per the provisions of law governing child rights.
The APSCPCR has applauded the prompt action taken by Papum Pare DSP Bomken Basar, Oju Welfare Society Chairperson Ratan Anyia and Licha Tatum of the CWC.
