ITANAGAR, Feb 4: The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday urged the Congress to play the role of a constructive opposition in the greater interest of the public.
Terming the Congress’ criticism of the developmental initiatives of the ruling BJP government in the state as “very unfortunate and uncalled for,” state BJP vice president Dominic Tadar said the country’s oldest political party, the INC, has been now reduced to “a party of cheap propaganda, only to oppose the BJP for the sake of opposing.
“The past year has witnessed the fastest development on all fronts. The law and order situation is under control. Cases of rape, murder and theft in the Capital Complex are almost nil, while the bandh culture has been rooted out,” Tadar claimed.
Construction of the Trans-Arunachal Highway has also been expedited “and it is visible everywhere, especially the Itanagar-Seppa road via Sagalee,” he said.
“Chief Minister Pema Khandu has, in fact, declared a war against corruption, giving clear-cut warning to all, including his own cabinet colleagues and parliamentary secretaries, that whoever is found involved in corruption will not be spared during his tenure,” Tadar said.
“The chief minister, who really wants to change the face of Arunachal along with his ‘Team Arunachal’, deserves appreciation from all for recommending the multi-crore PDS scam to the CBI,” he said.
