KALAKTANG, 2 May: Kalaktang MLA Dorjee Wangdi Kharma on Monday visited remote Sanglem village, as part of a tour of his constituency, to gauge the needs of the people there.
During his meetings with village heads and community members, the MLA dwelt on various initiatives related to rural infrastructure, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities, and apprised the villagers of “plans to improve connectivity in the villages, including construction of new roads and bridges.”
Responding to a representation submitted by the Kalaktang Village Council and the residents of neighbouring villages, the MLA emphasised the need for renovating and preserving Taklung Dzong, a centuries-old historical place located in Sanglem village.
“To meet the needs and beliefs of the people, such a historical place needs to be notified and protected immediately,” the MLA said, and added that “the renovation and development works of the monument will start soon.”
During the meetings, he promised to “take all the suggestions from the villagers to improve their lives.”
