ZIRO, Mar 18: An awareness campaign and cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Mission was held at Kalung (Bulla) village of Ziro in Lower Subansiri district on Saturday.
The campaign was organised by GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment and Sustainable Development (GBPNIHESD), North-East Regional Centre (NERC), Itanagar.
The programme was attended by locals, including gaon burahs representatives from the Kalung Donyi Polo Society, Bulla Youth Association and Apatani Students’ Union.
Several activities were carried out during the event, including distribution of flyers, putting up posters at public places on Swachh Bharat Mission for public awareness, followed by a cleanliness drive within the village and plantation of saplings by the villagers of Kalung (Bulla) village along with staff and researchers of the Institute.
Later, GBPNIHESD, NERC Scientist Dr S C Arya highlighted the research activities of the institute in the northeast region.
Engineer Om Prakash Arya and Lod Yama of the GBPNIHESD, NERC briefed on the significance of the awareness campaign and cleanliness drive and different activities under the cleanliness drive.
