AALO, Sep 20: The 9th Martyrdom of Kirti Chakra Awardee, Naik Tape Yajo will be observed at Military Station, Aalo on September 22.
Born on August 19, 1977, Tape Yajo joined the 1st Assam Regiment on 26 December, 1995. He laid down his life on 22 September, 2008 while fighting hardcore foreign militants in Poonch Sector of Jammu & Kashmir. He was posthumously honoured with the Kirti Chakra, one of the highest gallantry awards in the country. Amarveer Tape Yajo has left behind his 75 years old father Tamang Yajo, mother Yappon Yajo (70) and his three children.
He was also a decorated soldier with 50 years of Independence Anniversary Army Medal, Vishesh Seva Medal with clasp Bhutan, Special Service Medal with clasp Suraksha, OP Rakshak medal, High Altitude Medal and Nine Years Long Service Medal. (DIPRO)
