ITANAGAR, Sep 20: Union Secretary of Civil Aviation, Rajiv Nayan Choubey has assured that air services from Pasighat would commence by November 2017 positively.
This was informed in a meeting held at New Delhi on Tuesday, under the chairmanship of Choubey with the state Chief Secretary and Secretary Civil Aviation, Vinod P Kavle.
Arunachal Pradesh has also been included under UDAN- the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) of the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation and accordingly, the tripartite RCS MoU has been signed between Arunachal Pradesh, Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, and Airports Authority of India.
On behalf of the state, Secretary Civil Aviation, Kavle signed the RCS MoU in New Delhi.
This, the government hoped, would not only pave the way for providing affordable air connectivity from the ALGs and airports within Arunachal Pradesh to the rest of the country, but also boost tourism and facilitate import and export of goods and agriculture and horticulture produce of the state.
During the meeting, other issues related to civil aviation in the state, including commencement of commercial fixed wing aircraft services from Pasighat to the rest of the country were also discussed. (DIPR)
