Fire Service Week underway

ITANAGAR, Apr 16: “We are always ready to provide better services to the people, despite facing several difficulties,” said SP (Fire & Emergency Services) Kime Aya after inaugurating the Fire Service Week celebration at the fire station here on 14 April.
Addressing a gathering of students and officials, Aya highlighted the nature of work that officials of his department carry out.
“During emergencies like fire, natural calamities, disasters, and even when law and order breaks down, we carry out our job with utmost sincerity. However, lack of manpower hampers our work,” said Aya.
He also sought support from the citizens.
“We get lots of hindrances during rescue operations. Narrow roads, haphazard construction, and vehicles parked on the road create obstacles. The citizens should help us in this regard,” he said.
Personnel of the fire station demonstrated how to take preventive and safety measures against disasters.
Similar awareness programmes will be held across the state and the country till 20 April as part of Fire Service Week.
