AALO, 19 Sep: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Liyi Bagra emphasized the importance of protecting water catchment areas and proper planning for water and sanitation management in every village in the district.
Chairing a meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Mission here on Friday, the deputy commissioner directed the Village Water Management Committees (VWMC) to submit detailed reports on their respective water catchment areas to the PHED executive engineer (EE), and instructed the EE to furnish the catchment area details in the next meeting.
During the meeting, PHED EE Pojom Padu highlighted the achievements under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). He informed that under the JJM, 200 schemes have been completed and handed over to the VWMCs.
“Training on capacity building in plumbing and trade for O&M was also imparted,” he said. Padu urged the West Siang DDSE to identify the actual number of anganwadi centres where water supply has not yet been provided. (DIPRO)
