RUKSIN, 14 Jan: East Siang Zilla Parishad chairperson Ruth Tabing Boko urged villagers to play an active role in the implementation of government welfare schemes in the Oyan area.
Addressing the Gaon Burhas/Gaon Burhis, PRI leaders and senior citizens of Oyan village at the annual general meeting in East Siang district on Tuesday, Boko urged the gaon burahs to ensure social justice and instil innovative thinking among the youth. She appealed to community leaders to script a success story in maintaining peace and development.
Sille-Oyan circle officer Dubom Apang urged PRI members to work in unison for development, rising above party sentiments and personal conflicts that occurred during the election period.
Addressing the gathering, Oyan head GB Jatin Bori urged community members to sustain the spirit of unity and work with dedication to complete the half-finished infrastructure development works in their locality.
Later, a resolution was adopted during the meeting for the protection of water resources in the Sille River and the aquatic ecosystems in the area. The house also decided to impose certain restrictions on picnickers to preserve the pristine grassland and natural greenery along the riverbank areas.
