NAMSAI, 12 Feb: In a crackdown against narcotics trafficking, the Namsai police seized approximately 133 grams of suspected heroin during a targeted operation conducted in the Trolley Line area of Namsai.
Acting on reliable information, a police team launched a search operation, following due legal procedures. During the operation, one woman, Sarana Yoya (45), a resident of 2nd Mile, Namsai, was apprehended. Based on her disclosure, 11 plastic soap cases containing yellow-orange powder suspected to be heroin were recovered from nearby bushes.
The alleged accused was arrested on 12 February following due procedure under the law.
The seized contraband, estimated to be worth approximately Rs 7 lakh, was properly weighed, marked, sealed, and seized in the presence of independent witnesses.
The operation was carried out by a police team led by Namsai SDPO Kengo Dirchi and Inspector AK Pandey, along with Lady SI Luja Singpho, Lady Constable RZ Longri, Constable J Krong, and Constable N Gangsa, under the supervision of Namsai SP Sange Thinley.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
