SIMONG, 5 Mar: A health and hygiene awareness programme was conducted at Simong village in Upper Siang district on Wednesday as part of the community outreach efforts linked to the awareness of the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP).
The initiative aimed to promote preventive healthcare practices, improve sanitation habits, and strengthen awareness around personal and public hygiene among the residents.
The programme was organised under the banner of the AARRO Welfare Society, with the objective of fostering informed participation and transparent communication vis-à-vis the SUMP. The session witnessed active participation of community members, women self-help groups, zilla parishad members, and other key community stakeholders.
District hospital arogya mitra Rubi Tekseng highlighted the importance of personal hygiene, menstrual hygiene management, sanitation practices, and prevention of common seasonal diseases. The programme also included distribution of sanitary pads, tissues, and other essential hygiene-related products to the participants. Informational materials and FAQ booklets on the SUMP were circulated to address common queries and enhance awareness about key aspects of the hydropower project.
An open Q&A interaction session was conducted to provide a platform for the stakeholders to discuss concerns, seek clarifications, and engage directly with experts.
