GETTE, 6 Mar: A health and hygiene awareness camp was conducted at Gette village in Upper Siang district on Friday as part of a community outreach initiative aimed at promoting better health, sanitation, and hygiene practices among the local residents.
The programme sought to raise awareness on the importance of personal and community hygiene while informing villagers about various government health schemes available to them.
The programme was organised in association with the AARRO Welfare Society with the objective of strengthening health awareness and encouraging the adoption of preventive healthcare practices within the community. The camp witnessed the participation of around 50 residents of Gette village, reflecting active community interest in improving health awareness and hygiene standards.
The keynote session on health and hygiene was delivered by arogya mitra Rubi Tekseng and Block Resource Person Officer Ponung Badu Yao from the state Rural Livelihoods Mission office. The speakers highlighted the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, adopting healthy daily practices, and spreading awareness about various government healthcare schemes designed to support rural communities.
During the programme, the participants were educated on basic hygiene practices, preventive healthcare measures, and the role of cleanliness in maintaining overall health and wellbeing. An awareness segment on government-supported healthcare initiatives was also included to ensure that the community members are informed about available medical support and welfare programmes.
As part of the initiative, an awareness session on the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP) was organised to share key information about the project, and to respond to queries from community members. FAQ booklets on the SUMP were distributed among the participants to improve awareness and provide clarity on frequently asked questions related to the project.
A donation drive was also conducted during the event to support the local community with essential items aimed at improving everyday health and hygiene conditions.
The awareness camp created a platform for meaningful engagement with the local community, helping strengthen knowledge around preventive healthcare and hygiene while encouraging the adoption of healthier practices in daily life. (DIPRO)
