BASAR, 6 Mar: A field-based farmers’ interaction programme under the ‘farm school model’ was conducted at the field of progressive farmer Nyaken Basar near Nyigam village in Leparada district on Friday.

The programme, sponsored by the ATMA, aimed at strengthening the farmers’ knowledge and skills through field-based learning and interaction.

ADO Bippi Karbak highlighted the objectives of the programme, and encouraged the farmers to adopt improved agricultural practices.

District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Sengo Dini stressed the importance of organic farming systems for the farmers of the district.

“Organic farming is a sustainable and profitable approach that not only enhances farmers’ income but also ensures long-term soil health,” he said, and encouraged farmers to practice crop rotation in order to improve farm productivity.

During the technical session, progressive farmer Nyaken Basar delivered an informative talk on the production technology of cabbage and tomato crops.

He elaborated cultivation practices, cost involvement, and the practical challenges faced by farmers in the field. He also emphasised the need for adopting technical innovations and using quality seeds to ensure higher productivity and successful farming.

A total of 30 farmers from different parts of Leparada district, along with ATMA functionaries, participated in the programme and interacted with the resource persons. (DIPRO)
