ITANAGAR, 6 Mar: The 9th annual state dental conference-cum-general body meeting of the Indian Dental Association’s Arunachal Pradesh State Branch (IDA-APSB) was held here on Friday, coinciding with the National Dentists’ Day.

About 125 dental surgeons attended the event, which began with the inauguration of exhibition stalls by different dental and medical companies.

During the conference, speakers from various dental disciplines deliberated on recent developments and advancement in dentistry, and stressed on rational diagnosis  and treatment protocols of oral diseases, especially oral cancers and maxillofacial trauma.

IDA-APSB president Dr Gekar Loyi in his address highlighted the basic need of dental care services in the state, and requested the state government to “create dental surgeon post up to the primary health centre level to provide preventable and affordable dental health services for the rural population.”

Also present on the occasion was Administrative Reforms & Training Joint Secretary Dr Mari Angu, who stressed on quality service both in government and private sectors. He lauded the recent advances in dental treatment and technologically-oriented services for the people of the state.

Medical Education Director Dr Hage Ambing emphasised on preventive dental diseases, apart from curative services, for the rural population.

Dr Tage Tamo in his address stressed the need to establish a government dental college and tertiary care centres, while IDA-APSB honorary secretary Dr Mitinam Pertin urged the dental professionals to be more proactive and render yeoman services.
