GOBUK, 14 Mar: A four-day biodiversity workshop, organised by Green School for students from the government primary school in Gobuk and the government upper primary school in Simong, both in Upper Siang district, concluded on Saturday.
The workshop aimed to introduce children to the rich biodiversity of their surroundings through experiential learning and outdoor activities. A key objective of the programme was to help children develop deeper knowledge and skills related to their local biodiversity, enabling them to become young experts of nature in their own village, according to a press release issued by Green Hub Communications.
“By understanding the plants, birds, insects, and ecosystems around them, the students were encouraged to grow into naturalists and contributors to the ongoing conservation efforts in the region,” the release said.
The workshop was facilitated by renowned naturalists Sanjay Sondhi and Anchal Sondhi, and was organised by Green School, with support from Green Hub and Royal Enfield.
The workshop also received local support from the Epum Sirum Welfare Society, the Gobuk Welfare Society, and the Bomging Olung Angong.
