ITANAGAR, Jul 12: The regional office (RO) of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) here on Thursday celebrated the bank’s 37th foundation day.
Among others, Finance Secretary YW Ringu and Jt RCS RD Thungon took part in the celebration.
NABARD RO General Manager Gyanendra Mani narrated the bank’s journey since its establishment in 1982, and reiterated its commitment to bringing sustainable growth along with inclusive rural development in Arunachal Pradesh.
Thungon highlighted the NABARD’s role in the evolution of cooperative societies through computerization of the LAMPS in the state. He expressed happiness over increased economic activities in the state through various programmes being implemented by the NABARD.
“However, there is need for increased awareness programmes, so as to reach out to maximum rural population,” he said.
Ringu stressed on the importance of empowering SHGs and farmers’ clubs through developmental initiatives of the NABARD, and advised the SHG members and farmers present to avail of “maximum possible benefits of these schemes, and in the process become better entrepreneurs.”
She also stressed on the importance of time and quality management.
The SHG members and farmers participating in the function narrated about farm and non-farm activities undertaken by them, and also the experience of working with SHGs.
