PALIN, Aug 16: The first inter-club Independence Cup Badminton Tournament, organized by the Palin indoor hall management committee, concluded here on Wednesday.
In the men’s singles category, Biri Tama defeated Techi Tasino, while Rido Raja and Bania Tapum defeated Jottam Toko Helly and Khoda Tacho in the doubles category.
In women’s singles, Biri Onia won the title by defeating Takam Sami, while the pair of Byabang Limu and Goda Siku defeated Biri Onia and Toku Onia in the doubles category.
Local MLA Takam Pario, who attended the valedictory function of the event, highlighted the importance of sports activities, and urged the club management committee to nurture young and talented players to help them become players of national and international repute.
He assured to sanction adequate fund for improvement of the existing indoor hall. (DIPRO)
