WANU, Aug 21: A ‘plantation drive cum social service’ was organised here in Londging district by the All Wanu Welfare Association and the Wanu Students’ Union (ASU), under the aegis of the Kanubari forest division, on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Kanubari Range Forest Officer Wangbo Wangham explained the importance of nature and wildlife, and exhorted the younger generation to grow more plants for healthy environment.
WSU president Longshah Wangnowham highlighted the aim of the plantation drive.
More than 200 saplings were planted in and around the primary school premises by the volunteers. Forest officials and SHG members also participated in the programme.
