ITANAGAR, Aug 29: The multi tasking staffs (MTS) of the state police department have in a representation to the chief minister recently, sought his early intervention into the matter regarding the reconsideration of compensatory payment of the MTS.
Informing that they have been pleading for grant of compensatory payment at par with other non- gazetted personnel of the Arunachal Pradesh (Civil/Armed) since many years, the MTS said that they have been denied benefit given as per letter No. R/14021/1/178 UTP GoI, 10 December, 1979, despite repeated approaches to the higher authorities.
“The MTSs are compelled to work beyond eight hours without any financial benefits. Unlike the police personnel, we have to serve our duties without rest from morning till night without break. Our services are also utilized when assisting the police during shortage of police personnel during important events. Therefore, our comparison with other civilian multi tasking staff does not justify,” they said and demanded they be allowed to avail the holidays on Saturday, Sunday and gazette holidays similar to the staff peon (civil) if the compensatory payment is not made to them at par with other police personnel.
The MTS have further sought partial consideration of the recommendations of commandant 1st APPBn vide his compliance report No.1APP/HQ/WM-17/2004/dated 23/08/06.
