KIYIT, Sep 18: Hundreds of people from various villages in Mebo subdivision of East Siang district availed the public services delivered during the ‘Sarkar aapke dwar’ programme here on Monday.
The authorities issued 450 ST, 150 PR and 300 birth certificates, and received around 100 applications for free LPG connections under the Ujjawala Yojana.
The power department received electric bills from 62 consumers, while the health department provided blood testing and free health check-up facilities.
Legal metrology officials explained various issues pertaining to consumer rights and responsibilities, and advised the consumers to exercise their rights. Departments such as agriculture, horticulture, education, rural development, tax & excise, transport, and others informed the villagers about the schemes in their respective departments, and provided services to the needy ones.
Mebo MLA Lombo Tayeng, who inaugurated the programme, asked the departmental officials to render services to the satisfaction of the rural people.
DC Tamiyo Tatak, ADC T Borang, DPO S Sharma, and Namsing CO Kabang Apum were present on the occasion.
On Tuesday, the ‘Sarkar aapke dwar’ programme was organized at Ruksin.
The camp was inaugurated by local MLA Tatung Jamoh in the presence of MP Ninong Ering, DC Tamiyo Tatak, Ruksin ADC K Apang, ADC (Hq) Tatdo Borang and a host of officers, leaders and public.
Thousands of villagers from Ruksin and adjoining areas thronged the venue and availed the public services.
Jamoh advised the people to take advantage of the programme, and exhorted the government officers to provide services to the people to their satisfaction.
Appreciating the initiative of the state government, Ering urged the government departments to deliver the best services to the people of remote areas, and to educate them on various government services.
He also interacted with the GBs and villagers, heard their grievances and asked them to approach him directly for further help and cooperation.
The DC instructed DPO SK Sarma to submit a detailed report on the camps held at Kiyit and Ruksin.
