DCM assures to look into students’ needs

SHILLONG (Meghalaya), Sep 24: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein interacted with representatives of the Arunachal Student’s Union of Shillong (ASUS) on Monday and assured to look into the demands placed by the union for renovation of the circuit house and the boys’ hostel in the NEFA building here.
He also assured to bring the issues into the state cabinet meeting for discussion.
Mein is currently in Shillong to attend a review meeting on national highways in the Northeast region, to be chaired by Union Minister of Road, Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari.
Mein inspected the Arunachal Bhawan, the circuit house, and the boys’ hostel in the NEFA building. He informed that fund for complete renovation of the Arunachal House in New Delhi has been provided and the process of tendering is on.
He said the state government needs to have an Arunachal House in Guwahati too, and added that the land for the purpose has been demarcated with a concrete boundary wall.
“Though the state government has created many infrastructures in other states, we are not able to maintain them due to our own faults,” Mein admitted.
The DCM was accompanied by PWD Commissioner Bilatee Pertin and Shillong Deputy Resident Commissioner Marge Sora during the inspection. (DCM media cell)
