NAHARLAGUN, Oct 17: Continuing the celebration of Paryatan Parv, the state Department of Tourism organised a sensitization programme of taxi drivers at a city hotel in Naharlagun, in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (APPTF) on October 15 last.
APPTF Vice President Tagyo Sonam and General Secretary Gyamar Talik attended the programme with their team and shared the ground problems faced by taxi and auto operators.
Sonam also informed that the Federation has set a uniform rate for the taxi cabs in the twin town, which have being displayed in various strategic places.
Raj Basu from the Association of Conservation of Tourism (ACT) said that taxi operators are one of the most important stakeholders of the tourism industry since they are the first to greet the tourists and the last to send off the tourists from a particular place.
India Tourism Officer In-charge, Pawas Prasoon apprised the stakeholders to be ready for the opportunities arising out of new trains and opening of air services in the near future.
DTO Yupia Tater Mize asked all stakeholders to be well equipped for the upcoming tourist season, while Bengia Manna appealed to the taxi operators to obey traffic rules, keep vehicles clean and prevent the passengers from littering.
