Ete’s demise great loss for badminton in Arunachal: ASBA
ITANAGAR, Mar 10: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the untimely demise of Secretary Science and Technology Gaken Ete.
Ete breathed his last in Guwahati on Saturday at the age of 58.
“Ete was one of the most illustrious, qualified and decorated first generation technocrat turned bureaucrat of Arunachal Pradesh, who scaled the pinnacle of his chosen career. With his death, the state has lost an able engineer, a fine administrator and a great human being,” said Khandu in a condolence message
He said that Ete’s sincerity and dedication towards his work fetched him lot of respect from all quarters.
“His love for sports, especially badminton was known to all. In fact, he was the pioneer of the promotion of Badminton in the state and held the post of the secretary of the Arunachal State Badminton Association from 1998 to 14 June 2014 – longest in the history of badminton in the state.
Khandu, on behalf of his family, colleagues in the state government and the people of Arunachal Pradesh, conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Members of the Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA), including badminton promoters, players and parents’ residing in Itanagar and Naharlagun have expressed shock over the sudden and untimely demise of Ete.
Recalling his immense contribution towards promotion and development of badminton in Arunachal Pradesh, ASBA secretary Bamang Tago said that Ete was the person under whose initiative the ASBA got affiliated with the BAI.
“Ete was the first executive body members of BAI from Arunachal Pradesh. His demise is an irreparable loss to the ASBA in badminton in Arunachal Pradesh,” Tago, who also is the chairman of the Sports Authority of Arunachal, said.
The ASBA members, players and badminton lovers of the twin city of Itanagar and Naharlagun on Sunday assembled at the MLA Cottage badminton hall and observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
They also prayed to almighty to bestow courage and strength to the bereaved family to withstand the tragedy.
Earlier, Tago along with ASBA members and others visited the private residence of late Ete here and paid their last respects.
The Department of Science & Technology, including Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology (APSC&ST), State Remote Sensing Application Centre and Arunachal Pradesh Science Centre, GoAP deeply mourned the untimely demise of Ete.
In a condolence message, APSC & ST Director and Member Secretary CD Mungyak said that the news of death of Ete has sent a shockwave among the employees of the department.
“Ete was a visionary, straightforward and highly knowledgeable technocrat. He was also a very kind-hearted person for which he was loved by all in the department,” the message said.
“He will always be remembered as a mentor and guide of the department,” the message added.
APSC&ST Chairman Bamang Mangha expressed deep shock over the sudden demise of Ete and said that the void created by his will be hard to fill.
Director of State Remote Sensing Application Centre Dr Harekrishna Dutta also expressed profound grief and sorrow over Ete’s sudden demise.
The Department of Science & Technology prayed to almighty to give strength to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
