PASIGHAT, Mar 26: The East Siang District Health Society observed World Tuberculosis (TB) Day at the general hospital here in East Siang district recently.
Addressing the participants, Health Services Joint Director (T&R) Dr Raina said “the alarming rate of TB cases in the state is due to lack of proper dissemination of information,” and suggested creating more awareness in the district to fight TB.
District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Taken Siram dwelt on the initiatives of the government through the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme for prevention and control of TB, and highlighted the disease’s causes, symptoms and treatment.
Dr Siram informed that various facilities are available for TB diagnosis in the hospital. Urging people not to take the symptoms of TB lightly, he advised them to immediately undergo cartridge-based nucleic acid amplification testing at the hospital. (DIPRO)
