181 for assembly election, 12 for parliamentary election

ITANAGAR, Mar 29: The state election commission (SEC) has released its new and final list of candidates for the assembly election, and the total number now stands at 181 candidates.
According to the new list, of the earlier 190 candidates, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Phurpa Tsering (Dirang), Taba Tedir (Yachuli) and Kento Jini (Aalo East) have been elected unopposed in the assembly election.
Additionally, six candidates, including substitutes, have withdrawn from the race to the assembly election. These include two from national parties and four independent candidates.
Nangram Ganesh, who was the Koloriang candidate of the Indian National Congress’ (INC), and the Janata Dal (United)’s Chayang Tajo candidate Safar Pao have withdrawn from the electoral race.
The independent candidates who have withdrawn their names are Niri Chongrowju (Bomdila), Bongtu Sena (Nampong), Kampak Jugli (Changlang) and Wangjat Kuma (Khonsa).
The final list now also has 11 female candidates. They are INC’s Sorsomi Degio for Seppa West, Dayum Yara for Tali, Kabak Soping for Raga, Yaman Bagra for Aalo West, and Komoli Mosang for Nampong.
The BJP is fielding Gum Tayeng in Dambuk, Dasanglu Pul in Hayuliang, and Jummum Ete Deori in Lekang.
The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) has Yaba Gadi vying for the Liromoba seat, and the JD(U) will field Padmeshwari Jamoh in Lekang.
Independent candidate Yari Tok will contest from the Bordumsa-Diyun seat.
The party-wise breakdown according to the final list is: BJP (57), INC (46), NPP (30), JD-U (15), JD-S (12), PPA (9), AIP (1) and independent (11).
The number for the Arunachal East and West parliamentary elections remains the same with 12 candidates.
