ITANAGAR, Jul 28: GHSS Yingkiong (Upper Siang), GHSS Bomdila (West Kameng), GSS Motum (East Siang) and GHSS Seppa (East Kameng) defeated their respective opponents in the quarterfinal matches of the state level Subroto Cup football tournament for U-17 boys played at the DNGC playground here on Sunday.
GHSS Yingkiong will meet GSS Motum, while GHSS Bomdila will face GHSS Seppa to make it to the final of the tournament, which will be held at the same venue on 30 July.
In the first quarterfinal match, GHSS Yingkiong defeated GHSS Kamba 2-0 to enter the semifinals. Oken Tali and Marh Paloh scored a goal each for the winning team.
In yet another thrilling match of the day, GHSS Bomdila defeated GHSS Likabali 3-1 in a penalty shootout to break the tie of 1-1. GHSS Bomdila became the second team to enter the semifinals.
GSS Motum beat GHSS Itanagar (Capital Complex) 3-1, while GHSS Seppa defeated GHSS Roing (Lower Dibang Valley) 2-0 in the last match of the quarterfinals.
GSS Motum is the only secondary school team to reach the semifinals.
