PASIGHAT, Aug 30: In view of the ensuing Solung Festival Celebration 2017 and for ensuring peaceful celebration, East Siang District Magistrate, Tamiyo Tatak has issued an executive order under section 133 CrPC, prohibiting illegal and unauthorized selling of alcohol.
Accordingly, IMFL, locally brewed rice beer (Apong/Nyogin) or roxy etc in open places, roadsides or festival grounds will not be allowed.
Only those who have been authorized and permitted by various Solung celebration committees in the district in their respective festival celebrations grounds within a strict regulated time of 10 PM will be allowed to sell such items.
Further, gambling of any kind,including dice, playing cards or carom in open public places, including festival celebration grounds within entire jurisdiction of East Siang district is strictly prohibited.
The order will be effective from 5 AM of August 31 to 10 PM of September 10.
The East Siang District Administration through the order has also asked for promotion of cleanliness and litter-free surroundings of their respective festival grounds.
To oversee the strict implementation of the order, a vigilance and monitoring committee with flying squad has been formed with members from the ABK, ABK(WW), WASE, executive magistrates and officer from the departments of Police and Tax & Excise.
To regulate the sale of IMFL during the ensuing Solung festival, the East Siang Superintendent of Tax & Excise has been directed to instruct all IMFL wine shop dealers and retailers under the district to maintain daily sale records register.
All the village authorities, HGB, GBs, PRI members, village secretaries have been asked to extend cooperation for implementation of the order. (DIPRO)
