ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The Sankalp Se Siddhi-determination to attainment programme, launched by the central government with the aim to create awareness regarding social issues, like poverty, terrorism, corruption, communalism etc was organised by KrishiVigyan Kendras all over the state.
In Pasighat, KVK East Siang, College of Horticulture & Forestry, Central Agricultural University on Wednesday organized a programme at the college auditorium to discuss doubling farmers’ income and pledge to achieve it by 2022.
Around 317 farmers across the district,besides officials and staff of departments like agriculture, horticulture, veterinary, fisheries, ATMA, SAMETI, DRDA, textile & handicrafts, industries, sericulture and forestry attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Arunachal East Lok Sabha Member, Ninong Ering underlined the importance of improved farmer-friendly technologies for higher yield from less farm land in an era when population pressure is high on the land. He also urged upon the farmers to practice organic farming.
East Siang Deputy Commissioner, Tamiyo Tatak highlighted the seven-point strategy of the central government to double the farmers’ income from Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Sinchai Yojana, soil health cards, high yielding seeds, storage of agri products to unified market facility and integrated farming.
Zilla Panchayat Member, Kaling Dai discussed the need for location-specific, farmer-friendly technologies in the district.
Later, vegetable seeds and 500 Assam lemon saplings were distributed to selected farmers.
In a similar programme at Geku, 12 soil health cards were distributed to selected progressive farmers by Geku Mariyang MLA, Olom Panyang.
In Hayuliang, addressing over 200 farmers and scientists of the KVK and guest faculty members from College of Horticulture & forestry, Pasighat, MLA cum Chairperson APMDTCL, Dasanglu Pul elaborated about the various programme initiated by the central and state governments for the welfare of the state’s farming community.
Hayuliyang ADC, Kego Jilen advised the farmers to adopt diversified agriculture so that the dependency and risk associated with single crop can be minimized, while Chaglagam Anchal Samiti Chairperson, Chonu Tindya urged the scientific fraternity to look into the various determinants causing the deterioration of large cardamom production in Anjaw district.
He also urged the KVK Anjaw and CHF Pasighat to organize training and demonstration programmes focused on suitable scientific package and practices on large cardamom for the district.
Later, the MLA also distributed agriculture implements to 187 farmers under Tribal Sub Plan.
At Jairampur, more than 200 people,including PRI members and progressive farmers partook in the Sankalp Se Siddhi, New India Movement organised by KVK, Jairampur.
Parliamentary Secretary cum local MLA Laisam Simai emphasised on reaching out to the grass root level with the plans and programmes of the central government. He lamented that farmers do not utilize the farm lands to the fullest and it is the primary factor that farmers are facing socio-economic difficulties. He advised the farmers to focus on commerce based agriculture.
Earlier, Simai and the ADC visited Taipong village and met villagers who were stuck in crossfire between security forces and underground elements on August 28 last. A short film on Sankalp se Siddhi was also shown to the audience.
At Roing, the Sankalp Se Siddhi programme was organized by KVK, Lower Dibang Valley on Wednesday at the Multipurpose Hall.
Roding Pertin, District Coordinator, BJP briefed about the government initiatives to make a strong India under New India Manthan. Dr T J Ramesha, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Lower Dibang Valley highlighted the initiatives made by KVK for development of agriculture and allied sectors in the district.
Tai Tagak, Advisor to Chief Minister emphasised upon proper implementation of government schemes by working in a cohesive manner. Member of Parliament from Assam and in charge of BJP Arunachal, Ramen Deka also took part in the programme, which saw the participation of around 200 people.
At Tezu, the programme was celebrated with great enthusiasm to mark the 75th anniversary of “Quit India Movement” by the Department of Agriculture, Lohit district under ATMA.
Attending the programme, Veterinary Minister Dr Mohesh Chai asked all the beneficiaries to fully and properly utilize the inputs which are being provided by the government for their economic and financial benefit.
He also donated four computer systems to the selected schools under Smart Class Programme.
Resource person from IGG College, Dr M S Sharma spoke on Quit India Movement and remembered all the freedom fighters.
Further, two Mithuns (Bos frontalis) and other dairy development equipment were distributed by the Minister under RKVY Scheme of Animal Husbandry & Animal Husbandry Department.
