TEZU, Nov 12: The Cultural and Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM) celebrated its 27th foundation day on Tuesday at the Indira Gandhi Government College (IGGC) here in Lohit district.
During the event, founder members and former executive members of the CALSOM were remembered for their selfless contribution towards the society. Nineteen students and officers of the community were felicitated in recognition of their recent outstanding performances in the CBSE/AISSCE and successfully cracking the NEET (UG) and the APPSCCE.
President of the Idu Mishmi Cultural and Literary Society (IMCLS), Electrical SE Ginko Linggi, congratulated the awardees and urged them to maintain consistency in their performance in the future, as well. He emphasized the importance of hard work, punctuality and discipline in order to attain success in life.
Saying that education is the most powerful tool for social transformation, IMCLS vice president Bishen Mepo exhorted community members to give utmost importance to education.
CALSOM chairman Bafrenso Pul highlighted the significant role played by the organization in the past 27 years. He also urged the youths to be sincere towards their responsibilities, and to shun addiction of all kinds.
CALSOM secretary Suraj Tayang and joint secretary (literary) Anemso Pul also spoke.
Cultural presentations were made by the students of IGGC and the Denning College of Teacher’s Education.
The event was attended by former PHED CE Lupalum Kri, Mishmi Welfare Society general secretary Chowsa Takaliang, executive members of the All Mishmi Women Welfare Society and the All Mishmi Students’ Union, members of SHGs and NGOs, officers, and students of the Mishmi community.
