BALIJAN, Nov 17: As many as 317 students underwent oral screening and received treatment during the second phase of the ‘school dental health programme’ organised at the VKV here in Papum Pare district by the Arunachal Pradesh State Dental Council (APSDC) on 15 November.
Thirteen dental surgeons participated in the programme, which was inaugurated by Balijan ADC Mudo Tamo, in the presence of Health Services Deputy Director (Dental) Dr Joram Nisha.
“While 127 students were given restoration, 29 extractions were carried out,” the APSDC informed in a release. Toothbrushes and toothpastes were also distributed free of cost, and a ‘smile contest’ was held, which three children with best oral hygiene and dentition won, the APSDC said.
Besides the ADC, VKV Principal TM Sathian and Drs Mitinam Pertin and Tage Tamo spoke on the importance of oral hygiene “and early inculcation of right brushing habit.”
