SEPPA, Nov 20: The Consumer Rights Organization- East Kameng district unit (CRO-EK), supported by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs Food and Distribution, Government of India organized the first ever seminar cum awareness meeting on ‘consumer rights & responsibilities, CPA, MRP and consumer grievances’ at the Government Higher Secondary School Bazar line here in East Kameng recently.
Addressing the students and public, CRO- EK president Beku Dolo informed that the main objective of the seminar is to create awareness about consumer rights and to “stop black marketing and malpractices that are being practiced by few shopkeepers in the district.”
SP Piyush Fulzele assured the CRO team to provide all kind of manpower from his department for consumer welfare. “There should not be any kind of injustice and malpractice in respect to consumer affairs,” he added.
CRO state president Achu Bagang highlighted the eight rights, which the Indian constitution has empowered to every consumer in respect to consumer affairs.
Meanwhile, Assistant Controller Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs of West Kameng district, Tasso Gurro requested the students and public to purchase goods or products in the given MRP. He also asked them to be cautious while buying any product that requires weight measurement and to check the expiry date as well.
He also informed the gathering that the weight of LPG cylinder should not be less than 14.2 Kg and any complain related to the consumer may be registered with the concerned office for amicable solution.
