Arunachal bags 12 medals in KIYG, stands 23rd in medal tally

ITANAGAR, Jan 22: Arunachal Pradesh bagged 12 medals, including three gold, in the Khelo India Youth Games 2020 held at Guwahati in Assam from 10 to 22 January.
Arunachal stood 23rd in the overall medal tally with 3 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals.
The fourth bronze medal in boxing in the Under -17 boys (60 to 63kg) weight category was clinched by Taw Pakba on the final day of the games.
A native of Upper Subansiri district, Pakba is presently training at the Ganga Boxing Club in Itanagar under Coach Dari Laknia.
Maharashtra is on top of the medal tally with 256 medals, including 78 gold. Haryana came in second place with 68 gold and Delhi is in third position with 39 gold.
From the Northeastern region, host state Assam is in seventh place with 20 gold. Manipur secured 14th position with 14 gold and Tripura is in the 20th position with four gold. Meghalaya and Manipur could not win even a single medal in the games.
