NAHARLAGUN, Jan 23: Toko Kapa, Head Gaon Bura of Talo village, Lower Subansiri district passed away on 21 January at his residence in Lekhi village here following a prolonged illness.
Born on 10 May, 1961, Kapa was a well-known social worker and an expert in local customary laws of the Nyishi community.
He was appointed gaon burah at a young age of 20 years and was later elevated to the post of Head Gaon Burah in 1992.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and four daughters.
Meanwhile, the Arunachal Christian Forum (ACF), in a condolence message to the bereaved family of the late HGB on Thursday, recalled his contributions as one of the pioneers of the Baptist church and as a former deacon board chairman of Lower Subansiri.
Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the forum further prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
The Toko Welfare Association (TWA) has also deeply mourned his demise.
The TWA in its condolence message said that the late HGB was instrumental in settling various disputes as HGB and GB relating to issues of the village on boundary demarcation, women welfare, education and many more.
“He was one of the founding members of the All Talo Welfare Association (ATWO) from the erstwhile All Talo Youth Organisation in the early 1980s. He also founded the Gaon Burah Association in Yachuli constituency and was its first president,” the ATWA added.
