KIMIN, Mar 28: There has been no progress in the Ngurang Paro death case as the postmortem report of the deceased is yet to arrive, despite two weeks having passed since the Class 6 student of the Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya (VKV) in Sher was found hanging by the neck near the bathroom of the school’s hostel on 13 March.
A team of four doctors, constituted by the Kimin ADC, had earlier conducted the postmortem, the report of which is currently awaited.
The police arrested the school’s principal and two wardens on 14 March and registered a case under Sections 306 and 323/34 IPC. They are currently in judicial custody, while the four juveniles who were involved in the fight with the deceased were booked under the Juvenile Justice Act 75 and sent to the juvenile home in Pasighat.
Speaking to The Arunachal Times, Kimin SDPO Dekio Gumja informed that the police are yet to receive the postmortem report from the medical department. He, however, stated that due to the ongoing situation in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the hospital authorities may be caught up with additional work, which could explain the delay.
All this while, Paro’s father, Ngurang Taluk, has been alleging that his son was murdered, and that the suicide theory was being floated to cover up the murder.
Prior to his death, Paro had reportedly been brutally assaulted by his own classmates after a fight had broken out over a bottle of aerated drink.
Taluk claimed that Paro died in the school campus itself and the Sher VKV authorities failed to protect his son.
Other family members of the deceased have also said that the school did not inform them about Paro’s death, and that the boy died in the school and not on the way to the hospital.
They also accused the school authorities of fleeing from the hospital after depositing the boy’s body there.
The distraught father has since been appealing to the police to speed up the investigation and ensure that justice is delivered without delay.
