Nirjuli, Sept 2: The NSS Cell of NERIST has launched 15 days Swachh Bharat Abhiyan starting from September 1 during which various cleaning activities will be taken up in and around the institute.
While addressing the volunteers, Dr. R. P. Bhattarjee, Registrar stated that NERIST as a premier institute of the region should lead to make a plastic free society.
Dean (Students Affair), Prof.Binay Singh opined that cleanliness should start from home and requested all the stake holders of the institute to keep their surrounding need and clean.
“If we want to make our nation developed, we need to make our surroundings clean and people healthy. We all should strive for open defecation free society”, stated Coordinator, NSS Dr. A. Dinaman Singh.
Councillor, Ward-29, Nirjuli Tarh Nachung who led the second day of the Swachh Abhiyan, helped by making arrangement for land filling in front of NERIST Health Unit.
The All Kra Daadi District Students Union (AKDDSU) organised Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at General ground, Indoor Stadium and Govt Higher Secondary school campus here on August 30.
Emphasizing on the need of awareness on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan among the students, AKDDSU team appealed to the Govt officers, public and students community of the district to maintain a clean environment. It further requested the sportspersons who use the general ground not to throw empty plastic bottles here and there for a clean environment.
